The Indianola Motorcycle Grannies basketball team was founded in 2007.
Nancy Jo Henning, who has played granny basketball for 13 years, said granny basketball was formed by Barb McPherson in 2005 in Lansing, Iowa.
Henning said she enjoys playing because it's a way to get exercise.
"Plus, it's fun to get around other Grannies," Henning said.
Henning, who's from West Des Moines, said she used to be a cheerleader and hadn't played basketball before joining the Grannies.
Indianola Captain Paula Schultz said skills aren't needed to join the team.
Any woman over 50 who wants to join the Indianola Grannies basketball team can email Schultz at email@example.com. It's not too late in the season to join.
Schultz, who has played for 10 years, said she enjoys creating friendships while traveling and meeting people on all of the teams.
She said as a team member, she's had a chance to walk in several parades and go to Kansas City to play in the national tournament.
The Indianola team plays every Saturday morning and they practice Monday nights through April.
