The other day I was sitting in a McDonald’s parking lot waiting for my order to be brought out to the truck. I was watching a young girl help what appeared to be her mother in a motorized wheelchair cross Euclid and E 14th Streets in Des Moines.

Wow, what a powerful message. You never know the back story of your students unless they are willing to share. Thank you for being a great teacher. Alcoholism affects many families, most of us keep it a secret.
