City’s Credit Score - In preparation for the City’s Streetscape Project financing, the City had to be reviewed by Moody’s Investors Service, one of the major credit rating agencies. On Thursday, Oct. 8, Moody’s announced it has assigned the City’s financing a credit score of ‘Aa2’, affirming the City’s current outstanding bond ratings! This is one of the best ratings available for municipalities (behind just ‘Aa1’ and ‘Aaa’) and, according to Moody’s, is due to strong growth over the past five years and strong reserves that will remain so “because of the city’s good budget management.” It is also important to highlight that the City was rated as ‘Aaa’ (the best rating possible) on those criteria within the control of City leadership (i.e. budgeting, reserves, planning and implementation of the budget).
