Two Norwalk residents are charged with first-degree murder in the death of a newborn, according to a news release from the city of Norwalk.
According to the news release, Megan K. Staude, 25, and her father, Rodney A. Staude, 64, both of Norwalk, were arrested after Megan Staude gave birth to a baby late in February, 2023.
“With cooperation from her father, Rodney A. Staude, 64, the baby was left to die and was then dsposed of along Delaware St.,” said the news release.
The Norwalk Police were contacted March 8 with concerns for the safety of a child, said the release, and started an investigation. On March 9, law enforcement and professional volunteers located a deceased newborn child along the road in the 5300 block of Delaware Street in Warren County, said the release.
The Office of the State Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy, said the release, and results are still pending.
The released noted that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
