Fencing went up and lights were dismantled Monday along Salem Avenue as crews prepare to get to work on Indianola's streetscape project. Phase one will focus on Salem and Buxton Street and is expected to be finished in November. During the first part of the work, streets will be closed in those areas, but sidewalks remain open. Once the streets are finished, they will open and the sidewalks will close.

After three years of planning and preparation, ground was finally broken Monday for the Indianola streetscape project.
