As the first balloons take to the skies, leaders of The Helping Hand of Warren County have an uplifting evening planned: a new Helping Hand Appreciation Night in conjunction with the National Balloon Classic.

Helping Hand in Indianola has purchased six refrigerators through a $4,188 grant from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and a refrigerated truck with a $25,000 grant from the Warren County Philanthropic Partnership. Sue Wilson, executive director, wheels the truck in front of Helping Hand.

Rachel Klein, Helping Hand food pantry manager; Jackson Klein, volunteer; Sue Wilson, executive director; and Brent Kelso, board member; show the space available in the new refrigerated truck that will make it easier for food to be delivered to those who need it.

Loffredo employees hand out the free vegetables to Steven Williams and Lauren Blake. Helping Hand is distributing the food around Warren County.
