The 50125 zip code, which includes Indianola, added 14 cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, according to zip code specific information posted by the Warren County Public Health Department.

The county overall went up 46 cases, with the 50047 zip code, which includes Carlisle, adding 13 cases and the 50211 zip code, which includes Norwalk, adding 10.

The Indianola School District reported Wednesday that it has 14 cases of COVID-19 among students and another 15 cases among staff. The county’s 14-day positivity rate sits at 18.6 percent, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

The 50047 zip code has one of the highest 14-day positivity rates in the county at 26.2 percent. The 50229 zip code, which includes Prole, sits at 29.5 percent and Cumming is at 26.5 percent.

Other zip codes adding cases Wednesday include: 50320/Des Moines added five; 50210/New Virginia added two and 50118/Hartford and 50061/Cumming added one case each.

Simpson College added three new cases of the virus Wednesday for a total of seven new positive cases this week. According to the Simpsonian, the Simpson College student newspaper, the school currently has 23 active cases. There are 59 students in quarantine either on or off campus, the paper’s social media post said, down from 90 on Nov. 14.

In-person classes will end Tuesday for the college, with students finishing the semester remotely after Thanksgiving. Students are expected to return for the second semester in January.

The Harvard Global Health Institute’s map of COVID risk says that Warren County has averaged 61.7 new cases of the virus per day over a rolling seven-day period. The county has averaged 119.9 new cases for every 100,000 people over the same rolling seven-day period.
